Internet Use

In the classroom

  • All information produced by students in IT classes at BAEC must be stored on a floppy disk/memory stick instead of the PC’s hard drive. Any floppy disks or memory sticks that are taken out of the classroom, MUST be virus checked as soon as you put them into a PC in the college.  At the end of the course you may take the floppy disk away if you wish.
  • If you have a mobile phone with you please switch it off or switch it to silent during the session so that the class is not disturbed.
  • Please do not bring food or drink into the computer rooms. Each session will normally have a short break in the middle for you to have refreshments from the canteen or machines.
  • All learners in our IT suites must read and abide by the attached Internet Use Agreement.

Logging on

  • Switch on the computer using the button on the system unit only (the monitor should already be on)
  • A login box should now appear. Click OK (not Cancel).  You will be told the password to enter by your tutor.

Closing down

  • First close all programs you are using.
  • Remove your floppy disk/memory stick
  • Click the Start button and choose Shutdown from the bottom of the menu.
  • Check that Shut Down is selected in the dialog box and click OK.  The computer power will be turned off automatically. Please do not switch off the button on the system unit – this will restart the computer.
